Happy New Year from BLOOM!

We’re thrilled to kick off 2025 with you and to share some exciting updates about BLOOM!

While New Year’s resolutions can sometimes feel daunting, we’re embracing a fresh focus this year: fostering deeper connections within our community and providing valuable perinatal resources. To support this mission, we’re launching these quarterly newsletters to keep you informed about what’s new, what’s ahead, and practical insights from perinatal mental health professionals tailored for you.

In this edition, you’ll meet our newest therapists, learn about our upcoming Mom Mood Boost group, and discover helpful tips for starting this year gently. Together, let’s prioritize taking care of ourselves and our families in 2025.

With encouragement,

Meet Bianca

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I strive to take a holistic approach, considering all aspects of your life, including physical, emotional, mental and social factors. I also utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques that include cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, strengths-based therapy and others.

These approaches will help you navigate the emotional and psychological aspects of the perinatal period. Recognizing and addressing symptoms of depression and anxiety are important for healthy outcomes.

My goal is to provide support and guidance tailored to your specific symptoms and needs.

Parenthood looks different for everyone. My hope is you will feel more confident, seen, validated, and encouraged after your therapy sessions with me. You are doing great!

Meet Lauren

As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, my therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy and respect, and I am committed to helping you feel seen, heard, and empowered as you navigate this season of your life.

I use a number of evidence-based techniques in sessions that are influenced by psychodynamic, behavioral, and mindfulness-based therapies.

I understand that each person who walks through my door is a dynamic individual, shaped by their unique life experiences.

I believe effective therapy embraces the full complexity of each individual, focusing not just on symptoms but on understanding the whole person to uncover and meet their deeper needs.

Your experience matters, and I look forward to working with you!

Mom Mood Boost Returns at Greenhouse Coffee Co.

We’re so excited to welcome back Mom Mood Boost, starting Thursday, March 6th!

This supportive and welcoming group is designed to help moms connect, share, and navigate postpartum life. We’ll meet every other Thursday from 10:00–11:30 AM at Greenhouse Coffee in Arroyo Grande, California. When you arrive, head to the private room in the back—our space to gather, care for your baby, and enjoy a warm drink.

This 8-session series will cover a different postpartum-related topic each meeting, along with time to check in and talk about what’s going on in your season of life. Whether you’re seeking encouragement, looking for a sense of community, or just need a moment to breathe, this group is here for you. Moms with children up to 2 years old are welcome to join, and little ones are always invited to come along!

Each session is $35 and includes access to valuable postpartum resources and a session guide to revisit anytime. While we hope to foster a consistent community in this group if

you’re not able to make select sessions that is okay. We would love to see you when you can attend. Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up early—

and don’t forget to invite your mom friends!

We can’t wait to gather, share, and support each other. See you there!

Starting the New Year Gently

As we step into the new year, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by societal pressures to make big resolutions or “start fresh.” For those navigating the perinatal period, these pressures can feel especially daunting. Here are a few ideas on how to approach the new year while in this transitional period:

1.Prioritize Rest and Recovery

Your well-being is the foundation for everything else. Give yourself permission to rest without guilt. No mom guilt here!

2. Set Small, Achievable Goals

Instead of sweeping resolutions, focus on tiny, manageable steps. For example, “Take a 10-minute walk outside this week” is more empowering than “Exercise daily.”

3. Practice Self-Compassion

Remember, it’s okay to not have everything figured out. Celebrate small victories and approach setbacks with kindness.

4. Seek Support When Needed

Whether it’s a friend, family member, or professional, leaning on your support network is a strength, not a weakness.

New Year Affirmations

“Every small step I take to care for myself strengthens me for my journey as a parent.”

“I am a loving and capable parent, and my child feels secure and cherished because of my care.”

“This season of life is precious and fleeting, and we choose to find beauty in the moments we can.”

“I trust my instincts as a mother and embrace the learning process each day.”

“I deserve kindness, patience, and grace—from myself and those around me.”

New Years Journal Prompts

How can I nurture my mental, physical, and emotional well-being in the new year while navigating motherhood?

What challenges have I faced in my perinatal journey, and what have I learned about my strength and resilience from them?

What does support look like to me as a mother, and how can I ask for or build the support I need?

What is one thing I am looking forward to in my journey as a mother in the new year, and why does it excite me?

What has been the most surprising or unexpected part of my perinatal journey so far, and how has it shaped me?

A Message From Our Founder

Megan Richert and son

As the New Year begins, I have spent some time reflecting on this past year and all of the clients we have supported, perinatal providers who have referred to our growing practice and the outpouring of community support towards our mission to provide specialized perinatal mental health services for women and families on the Central Coast and beyond! It is a true joy to lead this team of talented therapists and admin support as we look to expand our reach and services in 2025.

What started as a noticing through my own struggles with postpartum depression many years ago coupled with a lingering question of “where is the support for the mom?”; is now a budding group practice that continues to support women and families during one of the most beautiful, yet challenging, seasons of life. Here’s to 2025 and a season of growth and connection at BLOOM.
